Alex’s grandfather, Papa Jay, passed away on Monday. I’ve been trying to think of a quick blog post all week, but I really just wanted to share a little bit about what a wonderful man he was.
Alex summed it up perfectly when he thanked his papa for teaching him to to be passionate about what you do, to love to travel and see Broadway shows, to always have an opinion, to fidget (a little too much ;)), and most importantly to treat the ones we love as our #1.
He had the kindest spirit, was always impeccably dressed, loved a little (well-intentioned) gossip, but above all just truly adored his family the most.
Papa and I bonded over our passion for fashion (he was a professor and wrote fashion textbooks), but what I’ll think about everyday is his huge heart, and his ability to make you feel so special. You could go to him with anything. He didn’t judge. He just listened, and he always supported whatever you thought was best. That kind of unconditional confidence is rare, and it meant a lot to me.
He would absolutely hate to be talked about too much, so today we’ll just be lounging (one of his favorite activities).
When it’s all too much, we turn to family. Papa Jay couldn’t have modeled that better.
